Ten years after the inauguration of the “Spazio Vedova” at the Magazzini del Sale in Venice, an exhibit designed by architect Renzo Piano, the Emilio and Anna Bianca Vedova Foundation dedicate to him the “Renzo Piano. Water Designs” exhibition which will be open from 24 May to 25 November 2018.

Curated by Fabrizio Gazzarri with staging by Studio Azzurro, the exhibition presents sixteen designs that narrate just as many architectures by the Genoese artist, united in a shared relationship with the element of “Water”.

Visitors can immerse themselves in a visual and sound environment: an interactive journey through Renzo Piano’s architectures. The dynamic installation of the Vedova Space, which over the years held the great canvases of the Venetian painter, now bears eight large thin screens that tell about the processes of conception and the creation of the designs exhibited.

The path begins with a wooden structure created in 1984 for “Il Prometeo”, an opera by Luigi Nono, which was realized in collaboration with Emilio Vedova for the lights and Massimo Cacciari for the lyrics, not to mention Claudio Abbado, who directed the opera, and Maurizio Milan for the structures and works management. The journey continues with other projects: Athens, Oslo, London, Genoa, Paris, New York, and ends back in Venice with the Vedova Foundation Museum at the Magazzini del Sale, entirely realized in collaboration with Maurizio Milan.
