DECEMBER 2017 – MILAN ENGINEERING CONCLUDES THE FIRST PART OF THE SI.RE.NA. TRIAL PROJECT FINANCED BY THE LOMBARDIA REGION WITH EUROPEAN UNION FUNDS (ERDF).
Milan Engineering, with the support of Architect Andrea Donadello and Engineer Marco Lettieri, put to the test a new protocol inside the “I Viali” Shopping Park in Nichelino by conducting a swift survey with a dynamic laser scanner system which can provide 3D updates to support Smart Design of urban building redevelopment.
The trial design, by the architects Gabetti and Isola, regards the riding school built in the seventies which has now become the focal point of the “I Viali” center, an important urban renewal project in the strategic South Turin area, near the Stupinigi Hunting Palace (UNESCO). Designed according to the Itaca and IISBE protocol, it was awarded as the best shopping center in terms of sustainability at the international SBChallenge competition organized by CommONEenergy, a research project funded by the European Union.
The trial carried out for the SI.RE.NA. project consented both the importing of the 3D point cloud – the result of surveys produced with a static laser scanner – and the 3D model created in BIM model for the preliminary design information management in the 3D point cloud – the result of the dynamic surveys conducted within the building redevelopment site. Once the modifications between the 3D model created for the preliminary design and the works in progress had been verified in real time, it was possible to obtain the as-built 3D model from the swift survey.
