On February 10, 2017, Renzo Piano, Gino Strada, President Museveni of Uganda and the Minister of Health Jane Ruth Aceng laid the foundation stone of the Paediatric Emergency Surgery Centre in Entebbe, Uganda.

The Entebbe facility will offer the best care available provided free of charge to children in Uganda and much of Central Africa. The hospital will be a model of medical excellence, environmental sustainability, energy independence and harmonious distribution of space. It will stand on the shores of Lake Victoria, 35 km from the capital of Kampala, surrounded by a park.

The Ugandan government donated the land, Renzo Piano developed the project with TAMassociati.

Milan Ingegneria designed the facilities and Prisma engineering designed the systems.
