The acknowledgement was given as follows: “The Jury appreciated the courage to powerfully confront history, without fear or hesitation. The new project tackles the complex relationships between Brunelleschi’s relics, the archival and historical-artistic heritage and related activities with great competence and innovative solutions, bringing together the various functions in a single organism.
The spaces designed by the Florentine architects of Ipostudio, founded in 1984 by Lucia Celle, Roberto di Giulio, Carlo Terpolilli, and Elisabetta Zanasi Gabrielli, are characterized by a clearly distinguishable architectural identity while skillfully and harmoniously integrated with the existing historical structure.”
Milan Ingegneria oversaw the structural design.
