Building raising in Via Farini in Milan (Italy)
The building, in the Isola district of Milan, was the subject of reassessment regarding particular work without land use. The roof slab, covering a limited volume, was raised about two meters, creating space for offices.
The 5th floor steel columns were cut and held in place with provisional supports.
Later, the entire deck was lifted with hydraulic jacks through controlled movement to avoid structural over-stress conditions. Once the intended height was reached, the columns were repositioned adding the missing part which was firmly connected to the abutments.
