“Light Obelisk” for Jubilee 2000, Rome (Italy)

On the occasion of the Great Jubilee of 2000, the Mayor of Rome decided to return the Obelisk of Axum to Ethiopia and to substitute it with a new futuristic structure erected in Piazza dei Cinquecento. The Obelisk of Light, a 30-meter polycarbonate and aluminium tower, is characterised by transparencies spreading polychromatic light originating from the light concentrator located on the obelisk base.
