Maurizio Milan presents Structural Affinities, a life between projects and construction sites with Renzo Piano

There are life-changing encounters, like the one between engineer Maurizio Milan and architect Renzo Piano. Their destinies crossed in Venice in 1983, and since then the two professionals have collaborated on extraordinary projects around the world: from the San Nicola stadium in Bari to the Basilica of San Pio, from the Science Museum in Trento to the hospital in Entebbe, Uganda, and the Milan Polytechnic campus in Bovisa. Working shoulder to shoulder, often in complex contexts full of critical issues, has strengthened over time an extraordinary understanding. A lasting partnership that combines pragmatic engineering approach with artistic creativity, constantly fueled by a very strong human affinity. Milan's motto has always been "simple solutions to complex problems," and in this journey on the wings of memory, one can find all the dedication to experimentation of two internationally known Italian excellences, committed to the creation of high-impact solutions that have resulted in groundbreaking works. Structural Affinities offers a compelling glimpse into the world of architecture and engineering, an invitation to explore the beating souls of two creative geniuses who have left an indelible imprint on the world's urban and landscape heritage.

The award ceremony of the international competition for the construction of the New Cremona Hospital was held, with the best project being the one signed by Mario Cucinella Architects, with the collaboration of BUROMILAN for the structural part.
The project proposes a new model of healthcare architecture from which emerges a holistic vision of the person's health and well-being, in close connection with territorial systems and the health care network. The facility will integrate with the socio-cultural context, becoming a health center that houses not only diagnostic and treatment services, but also spaces for social interaction, for recreation, to enhance the value of personal well-being and care.
An integral part of the project is the Health Park, a new piece in the landscape and a landmark for the community, enlivened by spaces for sociality and places dedicated to physical and mental well-being and, at the same time, an area of naturalness and urban biodiversity.
