A bridge between past and present

Matteo Thun & Partners' project is located on the site of the Rio dei Vetrai, in the heart of Murano, and involves the restoration of the Mocenigo Casino, dating back to the 16th century, and the redevelopment of the industrial buildings of the glass factory, dating back to the 20th century instead.
The historic glassworks in the heart of Murano, in Rio dei Vetrai, is being redeveloped and transformed into a Hotel. With a bridge between past and present, new life will be given to the original structures and facades that, integrated with new architectural spaces, will enhance the site's industrial memory linked to the art of glassmaking.

A bridge between past and present

The project area is located in the southern part of the island of Murano in the Venice Lagoon. After undergoing significant transformations over the years, from an ecclesiastical convent, to a noble residence, to a manufacturing complex for glass production, it will be transformed into a 13,500-square-meter hospitality complex with 140-room luxury hotel, spa, restaurants, conference rooms and green areas.
Access to the facility will be directly from the lagoon, and the hotel will be distributed around a large inner courtyard with a garden, which will be the beating heart of the resort.
