A futuristic project

The MUSE, built as part of the redevelopment of the Michelin area in Trent, documents aspects of the alpine naturalistic environment.
It is considered a building with futuristic features in terms of technology, construction and systems.
For its construction, wood, stone, glass, zinc aluminum and steel, materials belonging to the building tradition of Trentino, were chosen.

Trento's Museum of Science, better known as MUSE, completes the intervention carried out in the former Michelin area, a real piece of the city transformed through a significant urban redevelopment.
The building, with a profile reminiscent of the surrounding mountain peaks, consists of spaces and volumes in succession, with a total of four floors above ground and two below, along which the visitor paths run from top to bottom. It is a futuristic type of structure, equipped with a system of automated systems that harness solar and geothermal energy by means of photovoltaic cells, solar panels and heat exchange probes.

Italy's first LEED-certified museum

The use of local materials, the implementation of a centralized cogeneration plant, the intensive use of solar and photovoltaic panels, and the important presence of greenery and water contributed to the achievement of LEED certification, Gold level, for the first time awarded to an Italian museum.

"Water represents, as well as wood, the power of nature to regenerate itself."
