Garofalo Paisiello, Milan (Italy)
This project involves the demolition and reconstruction of some buildings in a block dating back to the late 1800, modified and expanded up to 1970, and now the disused office of Milano Politecnico.
The design modifies the existing volumes by recovering the entire building area and favors greater visual span on the ground floor with a large foyer leading to the internal courtyards. A system of greenhouses and loggias with private hanging gardens on the various floors revisits the typical facades of Milanese buildings.
The building comprises 9 floors above ground and three underground. These levels will be realized through a “top-down” technique after completing accurate containment work to secure the adjacent buildings.
