Multifunctionality and visual identity

The building of the new Airport Services Center for Bergamo-Orio al Serio airport consists of three distinct volumes: two two-story blocks for offices and services, which serve as the base for the five-story volume above, which is used for accommodation. The project is also recognizable for its clear visual identity, inspired by the airport context, where the geometric motifs that characterize the façade recall the stylized shape of an airplane tail.

Functional services and accommodation

The project, which covers a total area of 12,500 square meters, is located near the P3 intermodal parking lot at Bergamo Airport. In order to effectively manage the two main functions – accommodation on the one hand and services on the other – it was decided to divide the structure into three distinct volumes: two two-story blocks, reserved for offices and services, on which rests a third five-story volume, intended to house the 180 rooms of the 4-star hotel that will be entrusted to an international brand.

The aesthetic solution that distinguishes the project concerns the design of the façade and consists of a geometric pattern inspired by the dynamics of aeronautics: a design that also offers the functional advantage of protecting the building from sunlight, thanks to the horizontal sunshade elements that run along the entire façade. Given the airport context, the design also focused on optimizing traffic flows, with the creation of a square in front of the building designed to manage traffic and efficiently distribute access to parking lots.

"An important project, built up over the years.".
