Innovation and aesthetic taste

A series of large monolithic porcelain stoneware panels, up to more than 4 meters long, forms the façade of the boutique that Dolce&Gabbana has opened inside the Dubai Mall. It is an architecturally complex and sophisticated project, created by anchoring the panels to a steel substructure in such a way as to make the joints between the components imperceptible, thanks in part to the care taken to ensure the continuity of the light-colored veins of the stoneware between one monolith and the next.

The pre-assembly technique

The façade, characterized by lightness and versatility, was designed by Tensoforma, which consulted with BUROMILAN to devise a solution that was a perfect blend of innovation and aesthetic taste. The monolithic panels were made of black porcelain stoneware streaked with light veins, with dimensions reaching 4200mm x1600mm.

Assembly was done by anchoring the monoliths to a steel substructure, taking special care to make the joint between the components unnoticeable. All the elements were pre-assembled at the factory, leaving the workers only with the task of positioning them on site, so as to greatly reduce installation time and ensure a flawless and highly prestigious final result.
