Redevelopment of Station Area

The intervention area is located in a part of the city of Varese that has been consolidated since the middle of the last century around the stations of the two railway lines that connect it to the regional capital. Its structure and the road and infrastructure network have determined an urban caesura giving rise to a dynamic of suburbanization of the adjacent subdivisions that, also due to recent demographic fluctuations and the lack of public space redevelopment interventions, have been progressively characterized by the degradation of urban quality.
Interventions aim at the grafting of virtuous dynamics of redevelopment of public space and infrastructure through the improvement of urban quality, safety and usability of services.
The focus on open spaces and gardens, which are typically Varese, makes it possible to identify a system of visual relationships between open spaces. In a barycentric position between the two stations, a Great Cover is planned, which, in addition to orienting the various intermodal routes, provides shelter for the market, a super-urban place capable of generating opportunities for the community to meet.
